Fastest-ever equilibrium assignment

The modernization of our ‘oldest’ PTV Visum assignment method has led to a massive speed-up. On a high spec machine the German-wide model Validate with more than 20.000 zones and five million links runs in less than one hour! The same model on the same machine took 14.5 h in PTV Visum 2021. Run times are impressive not only for this model but for a number of different models we tested, also on typical standard machines. Besides the speed up the classical equilibrium provides high precision solutions, meaning that for most networks a gap of 10-8 are possible.

Activity-based modeling (ABM)

Precision is one of the greatest advantages of PTV Visum when it comes to demand modeling. As the focus in transport planning moves away from new road construction towards traffic management, greater accuracy is required. This is where Activity-based Modeling, or ABM, comes into play.

Bicycle assignment

Cycling is known for its huge effects on health, road safety and air quality. Thus, in transport models the demand for modelling bicycle traffic grows. This not only refers to the forecasting ability on the demand side, but also includes the assignment of bicycle demand. Multi-resolution modeling

The new version of PTV Visum includes a huge change for multi-resolution modelling in the junction editor. The displayed geometry is much closer to the representation in PTV Vissim, reducing "surprises" and the efforts for corrections when models are transferred from PTV Visum to PTV Vissim.

New in PTV Vissim 2022

PTV Vissim 2022 succeeds the previous software version PTV Vissim 2021. In this video we present the main new features using live demonstration in the software. Among the many new features are enhanced search and background map functionalities, high class visualizations, reverse parking and emissions calculations.

Attribute modifications

PTV Vissim and PTV Viswalk include “attribute modifications” as a very versatile feature. This rather technical term stands for no less than “scripting without a script”, a “context generator” to model rare and specific situations for which a dedicated feature might be missing. In this tutorial you will learn how to define and use attribute modifications for PTV Vissim and PTV Viswalk.

Live background maps & live location search

Until now, PTV Vissim offered maps from HERE and satellite images from Bing. In the new PTV Vissim version, you can also configurate your own WMS server to be displayed as the background map. We also added a live location search, so you can easily navigate to the modelling location.
