Smart Cities – Urban Transport for the day after tomorrow

The project "Smart Cities - Urban Transport for the Day After Tomorrow" examined what urban transport could look like in 2045 or 2065 and what possibilities municipalities have to prepare themselves for different developments.

To this purpose, research projects and studies were evaluated with a view to developments that are conceivable from today's perspective. On this basis, various fictions of urban transport so-called "urban fictions", were developed. These visions of the future were developed with the help of reference examples and the description of typical daily routines of exemplary inhabitants (personas).

The developed urban fictions, describing different social models and development possibilities of urban transport, are presented in the publication "Stadtverkehr für übermorgen" of the Federal Institute for Research on Building, Urban Affairs and Spatial Development (only available in German).
