Description: There is a great deal of uncertainty when it comes to introducing connected and automated vehicles (CAVs) to the transportation system. Although, CAV applications such as cooperative adaptive cruise control (CACC), truck platooning, cooperative speed harmonization, and advanced traffic signal requirements have been field-tested, further research is necessary to prepare the transportation system. This study utilized research-based traffic analysis, modeling, and simulation (AMS) tools to discuss CAV introduction impacts in the Southcentral region of the US.
